1km Apartment

Rooms are buildings, and the apartment is a domesticated city.

The 1km Apartment is a house for one person whose dimensions exceed the typical experience of home life. The urban scale is not only present, but also the items related to it: billboards, street lights, buildings, ruins, cinemas, mountains, forests, animals, cars, streets, alleys, lakes, tunnels, and bridges. The apartment experiences day and night.

All the rooms (some of which are movable) are scattered along its 1 km length, with stripes indicating travelled distances and specific events appearing every 100 metres.

You can move around by car or on foot. On foot, a trip from the bedroom to the toilet can take several minutes. In this apartment city, everything is taken to the extreme. There is tension, but also exuberant scenarios.

After 1 km, a small door opens onto a rocket. Like a skyscraper, the rocket stands ready to depart at any moment, as if conquering the vastness of space were the only possible escape (or relief) from the constructed world.
